Custom Labels And Swimwear Trims: Colour Accuracy Becomes The Deciding Factor

As swimwear and activewear brands across Europe prepare their next collections, sourcing teams are putting renewed emphasis on colour accuracy and small-batch flexibility for trims. Navy tones remain the season's quiet workhorse: buyers increasingly specify exact Pantone references, such as Pantone 296 C, for woven labels, patches and elastic trims instead of accepting a close match. The result is a visible shift away from stock trims toward made-to-order labels in formats like 7 cm by 5 cm, produced to each customer's artwork and colour card.

For factories, the change is operational as much as commercial. Colour approval now starts before the first stitch, with lab dips and yarn matching handled alongside artwork confirmation, so production can begin as soon as the purchase order arrives. Suppliers offering low minimum quantities, quick sampling and consistent Pantone matching are winning repeat business from small and mid-sized European brands.

Sourcing managers say the priority is predictability: the same colour, the same hand-feel and the same lead time, order after order. In a market where collections are smaller and launches are faster, trims are no longer an afterthought; they are part of the brand's visual signature.
